Frisket

Writing tools that
stay out of the way.

In letterpress printing, a frisket is a mask: a sheet cut away only where the ink should fall. Frisket makes small writing tools in the same spirit, for the words you keep and the ones you send.

The Markdown syntax disappears the moment your cursor leaves it, so you see the finished page, not the markup. The markers never leave the file: your notes stay plain .md files that open anywhere.

  • Tables, maths, diagrams, images and code render in place as you type.
  • Any folder becomes a library: tags, to-dos, pinned notes, live search, and links between notes with backlinks.
  • Tabs, split view, and version history for every note.
  • Syncs through the cloud folder you already use: OneDrive, Dropbox, iCloud Drive or Syncthing.
  • Import from Evernote and Notion. Export to PDF and HTML, or to Word, EPUB and more with Pandoc.
  • No account and no database. Your files stay where you put them.

Frisket Letters

Love letters,
left in public.

Write to someone you loved, lost, or never told, without naming them. A person reads every letter before it appears, and each one can be shared as a card.

To a stranger

Dear stranger with the umbrella,

You walked me three blocks in the rain and never asked why I was crying.
